| | Profile |

| Market
Shares was
co-founded in 2001 and consists of a small focused
team with requisite skills and experience. By utilizing the services of leading providers of
specialist businesses we combine our strengths, without inhibiting
scale. |
| | Philosophy |
"People deal with people and
businesses they trust."
| Market Shares
operates independently of brokers and research houses. Fees are fully disclosed, itemised on subscriber
accounts and settled through an independent clearer. Market leaders are contracted to provide share price
feeds, company financials and manage the data centre. |
"Investing combines the three demons of Fear,
Uncertainty and Doubt."
| Market Shares publishes company fundamental and
technical information in a structure that provides clarity. Not just
for company shares but also the financial markets, both with objective
benchmarks. Tools are provided to construct and back test
strategies. Performance
to benchmarks provides a focus on the effectiveness of the strategy. Confidence can be increased by understanding the
characteristics of
your investments to reduce arbitrary decision making in the face of
often conflicting advice and divergent market commentary. |
| | What
Caused Market Shares To Be |

| Investing in shares has long held the co-founders
personal appeal over alternate asset classes. The challenge is the
share market bears higher risk and stark volatility in comparison to
the alternatives. Fearlessly, and with the benefit of hindsight, at times
stupidly, the co-founders have invested in shares. With the scars of
some failures and in particular having experienced the bear market of
1987 it was clear that investing arbitrarily was not optimum. Core contributors to poor investment decision making
were defined: - Not having an insight as to whether share markets
were
over or under valued
- Not taking into account the stance of monetary
regulators. For example, are official interest rates neutral or is the
RBA seeking to expand or contract the economy
- Not having a grasp of a share's value in comparison
to its price or an
understanding of the risk of company failure or momentum of the share
price; and
- Analysing shares on a company by company basis as
opposed to setting
criteria to short list an optimum selection across ASX listed
companies.
A way forward was defined. It is published as Market
Shares. |
