Overview | Market Shares’ Composer is the powerhouse behind your strategies. At a glance it may look too challenging, but rest assured it is worth the investment of your time and understanding to conquer its procedures. Take advantage of the Tutorial to help you with the basics. Also, use References to better understand the various terminology used. |
Criteria | Profile establishes your investment mandate; your intent. In addition to giving a strategy a name and description, it allows you to determine its horizon (e.g. short, long) and investment style (growth versus income etc) against a benchmark of your choice (e.g. S&P ASX 200 or a specific sector). The three remaining pillars of Value, Risk and Momentum are used to hone your intent. While the selection of criteria continues to grow, there already exists a generous choice of items that combined with the value and mathematical options supplied, enable thousands of unique attributes to be assigned. Each criteria is used to create 'buy' or 'sell' triggers which are in turn compared to the daily price and research data. Because Market Shares stores all of its daily presented information, you have the opportunity to back test your strategy over a period of your choice (from 01/01/2004 to current). This facility is unique and amazingly authoritative. It permits you to analyse and tune your strategy before making any necessary editing changes.
